“An Ounce of Prevention is
Worth a Pound of Cure”

Proper Substrate Preparation

Allegheny knows that flooring projects are only as good as the prep-work that goes into them. A properly prepared surface requires cohesion between the substrate, prep material, adhesive and flooring material. The bulk of flooring failures can be attributed to one or more of these preparation factors not being addressed!

Financial Implications of
Moisture Problems

Moisture related flooring failures cost over
one billion dollars in the U.S. annually. Concrete curing, poor surface preparation, precipitation and lack of expertise all contribute to this problem. Fast track construction, if done improperly, can also be a factor. At Allegheny, we’ll work with you to make sure your project doesn’t become part of this unsatisfactory statistic.

At Allegheny, we truly believe that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” Our experience tells us, time and again, that successful installations are those that anticipate that moisture can and will be a problem. We are the experts, and we are well versed in pH, drying time, concrete testing and moisture suppression systems. We know the best products and installation recommendations to avoid failure.

Testing

There are several methods for moisture testing available, but no single test should determine if a concrete slab is ready for floor covering. A combination of tests is the smarter choice. Ideally, tests should be conducted on the slab after the building and finish materials have been acclimated to final operating conditions. Allegheny knows when the conditions are right for installation, and when to re-test, if necessary.
