24/7 SERVICE
At Allegheny, we pride ourselves on serving your commercial flooring needs 24/7. We will work closely with your schedule to minimize disruption and downtime. That’s why we will respond around the clock. 24/7 service from Allegheny is one reason we have earned a reputation for excellence and outstanding customer service.
Flooring Preparation:
Surface Preparation
Often overlooked, surface preparation is the most important aspect of a new installation. Most flooring failures are due to poor substrate preparation- not floor covering products or installation methods. Allegheny uses a variety of floor prep equipment, including shot blasting, diamond grinding and high tech removal machines to properly remove old adhesives and other materials that may adversely affect installations.
Moisture Suppression Systems
Moisture in concrete is the leading cause of flooring failures and is a billion dollar-a-year, industry-wide problem. Topically applied Moisture Suppression Systems reduce the moisture emission transfer rate and allow flooring to be installed over concrete that exceeds manufacturer limitations.
Self Leveling
Allegheny is an applicator of self-leveling cements, and we specialize in all types of underlayment applications. We have successfully installed underlayment in a variety of construction environments, ranging from large, multi-story buildings to small retail projects. Our ability to level deflected concrete by laser pinning sets Allegheny apart from our competitors.
Concrete Polishing
Polished concrete is an aesthetically pleasing, durable and efficient surface which eliminates the need for coatings, sealers, carpet or tile that require expensive refinishing or replacement, maintenance and use of harsh cleaning chemicals. The natural concrete floor can be customized and provides long-lasing beauty and ease of maintenance with environmental benefits. Polished concrete contributes LEED points, making it an excellent choice for architects and designers.
Epoxy
Our full-service line of coatings includes thinly applied maintenance coatings, trowel applied coatings, designer multicolor applications and industrial abuse resistant coatings. In choosing the appropriate coating for an environment, Allegheny tests to ensure proper adhesion, removes any existing contaminants and repairs existing substrates. Allegheny employs manufacturer-trained personnel to ensure proper installation and customer satisfaction.
ACF RH/pH Monitoring
Allegheny provides accurate testing that saves time with state-of-the-art equipment. We collect precise data for both relative humidity (RH) and Alkalinity (pH). Full color, detailed floor prints are provided, showing test areas and data collection. Photos of readings and a certified report are also included. Allegheny then continues to track hydration of concrete slabs to show a history of the RH and pH levels.
Lift Services
Liftman, Starnet®’s proprietary lift system, was developed especially for lifting retail gondolas and library stacks. This system speeds up flooring renovations by days – if not weeks. With Liftman, there is no need to dismantle or empty displays to move them, and there is no damage to merchandise or library stacks during the move.
Shot Blasting
Shot Blasting Is a method of flooring preparation that actually profiles the concrete slab to assure both mechanical and chemical bonds for moisture suppression systems, epoxy flooring systems and self leveling underlayment. The shot blast machine propels steel beads onto the concrete substrate to remove any contaminants or bond breakers to provide a clean profiled substrate.
Budgeting/Specifications
It is pure dollars and cents. True pros know exactly how much flooring to order for specific jobs. Allegheny Contract will not over-budget to compensate for a lack of knowledge the way a less-than-qualifed contractor might. Since Allegheny has such a good grasp of proper take-offs, you will save money in the end.
Maintenance: Getting the Most Out of Your Floor
Good maintenance is the best way to protect your flooring investment, plain and simple. Our maintenance services will keep your floors looking good, and they will help extend the life of your flooring. It has also been proven that clean floors help promote a healthy environment which contributes to better employee morale, performance and attendance. Let Allegheny develop a comprehensive, customized program for one of your company’s most abused assets — your flooring.
Our Approach
Allegheny’s maintenance programs are customized to your facility’s flooring type, business profile and budget. We guard our reputation for outstanding service by being meticulous, and by staying abreast of and using state-of-the-art techniques. More and more, flooring maintenance truly is rocket science! Flooring has the largest single impact on indoor air quality (IAQ) and therefore must be maintained for the good health and well-being of employees and others.
Flooring is a major investment, and it is actually dirty well before it looks soiled or unclean. Our approach is unique in that our technicians will service your building more often, but for less time, each time. This method allows us to clean smaller areas and treat trouble spots and spills before they become overwhelming — helping to keep your flooring looking like new for a longer period of time!
From purchase to reclamation, Allegheny will…
- Make sure your flooring always looks fresh and clean
- Extend your flooring’s life-cycle, saving you money
- Ensure a healthy, clean environment for employees, clients and customers
- Reduce the impact of maintenance products on the environment — only green cleaning products and practices are used!
Allegheny’s Maintenance Program Overview
The four components of our program are:
- Preventative Maintenance: Walk-off and protective matting keeps transitional areas clear of sand and grit.
- Daily vacuuming: High-powered beater bar-equipped vacuums, used by your custodial staff. We will show them how.
- Interim Maintenance: Allegheny employs the latest in cleaning technologies: the “LOMAC” or Low Moisture, Agitation & Crystallization system. LOMAC is the latest innovation in “dry” cleaning, eliminating the downsides associated with powder dry methods.
- Deep Extraction Cleaning: Performed annually — using pure water to remove deeply embedded dirt. In extreme cases of previous flooring neglect, deep extraction is preceded by application of a non-hazardous soil release agent using a rotary scrubber. This process is called Restorative Cleaning.
Your customized maintenance plan includes:
- Expert flooring cleaning in high-traffic areas, with focus on trouble spots designated by your staff at the beginning of each service appointment.
- Jobs calendar summarizing services to be provided at each session.
- Color-coded floor plan of your facility, identifying areas to be cleaned at each service appointment.
- MSDS sheets for all cleaning products used in your facility.
- Pricing Information.
CRI Seal of Approval
Allegheny Contract uses only cleaning products with the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) seal of approval. Only the finest products pass our rigorous testing procedures, so you will know that you are always getting the best.
The CRI rates cleaning efficiency on three levels: Gold, Silver and Bronze, and Allegheny only uses Gold-rated products and equipment. As a Seal of Approval green product, carpet cleaning solutions are also designated as environmentally friendly by providing documentation from one of the CRI’s nationally recognized green product certifiers.
Warranty Compliance
Did you know that sub-par cleaning methods may adversely affect, or even negate, new flooring warranties?
You should be sure to check your warranty’s fine print for restrictions, but it also helps to have a trustworthy partner who knows these limits inside and out. At Allegheny, we use a combination of approved cleaning methods, because there is no one technique that is ideal for all circumstances. For example, we perform a thorough hot water extraction cleaning annually, while our green, sustainable and cost-effective encapsulation cleaning system is employed more often.
Sustainability
At Allegheny Contract, we are committed to sustainability and environmental responsibility. We work toward this standard in three ways:
- Efficient Operation
By purchasing products that are well-made, we promote sustainability because these goods last longer. Efficient use of energy for proper maintenance is also inherent in our cleaning programs. - Green Cleaning
At Allegheny we believe it is better to use products that are non-hazardous and biodegradable than those which are synthetic or made from petrochemicals. This minimizes the use of water and the use of the products themselves. - Cost Savings
We have implemented strategies in the Allegheny Contract maintenance program that will improve your company’s bottom line.
Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE)
Allegheny Contract also adheres to the standards of the Carpet America Recovery Effort, (CARE): Reduce, reuse and recycle.
CARE is a ground-breaking industry and government initiative that develops market-based solutions for recycling and reusing post-consumer carpet. Their mission is to foster market-based solutions for recovering value from discarded carpet. To accomplish its mission, CARE facilitates, advises, provides resources and serves as a forum for many different stakeholders. CARE is funded and administered by the carpet industry, which agrees to use CARE to:
- Enhance collection infrastructure for post-consumer carpet
- Serve as a resource for technical, economic and market development opportunities for recovered carpet
- Develop and perform quantitative measurement and reporting on progress toward national goals for carpet recovery
- Work collectively to seek and provide funding opportunities for activities to support national goals for carpet recovery
